MY LAST LETTER AS A FULL TIME MISSIONARY

 Hi all,                                                                                                              6/20/2016

We had such a great week planned!!!  Until everyone went out of town and cancelled on us! Ha-ha but it was okay because there were a lot of other people we were able to meet and to visit!

We had an amazing miracle where we found a new investigator!
His wife is a member and he is super open to learning about the gospel! Both he and his wife are super excited about having us come back to teach them!  I’m pumped for the sisters who get to keep teaching him and for him to get baptized!

And this week I finally got the missionaries to Jasmine in Pakistan!!  (she is the lady I met and have been teaching online, I have been trying to figure out how to get missionaries to her) I had to wait till 9:00 at night to call because of the time change!   I called the mission office in India several times and no answer!  So I finally had to call the Mission president's cell phone! Ha-ha, but he got the information personally and made sure the missionaries got to her. And I even got call and talk to Jasmine for a few minutes!  She has a really thick accent so it was hard to understand but she has amazing questions, and she is so prepared to hear the gospel! So I am excited to see where that goes!

We got to give tours in the Jacob Hamblin home (*see below) this week! It’s another historical sight here in St George. And the cool thing is that while we were there, a polygamist family for Colorado City came to get a tour!!   It was so interesting because they actually knew a lot about Jacob Hamblin!  They were really nice people..I just thought that was interesting, made my day!

Well this is it...I will be home on Wednesday!  I guess! It still doesn't feel like my mission is ending. But, I had my exit interview with my mission president yesterday, and I just had a strong feeling of peace that I have done what I needed to do here.  I have truly loved serving a mission and especially the people I have met.  I will miss it so much but, I know the Lord has important things in store for me.

My mission president asked what I have learned on my mission. Well... A LOT!
But the biggest lesson I learned was that our Heavenly Father knows and loves us each individually.  I have felt a glimpse of the love He has for His children as I have been privileged to teach them.  He loves us so much that He sent His son to be our Savior.
This gospel is so true!!!!!

I have truly LOVED my job!

Love you all!

*The Jacob Hamblin House is a historic residence and museum located in Santa Clara, Utah, near St. George, Utah. Jacob Hamblin was a Mormon pioneer and missionary who founded Santa Clara in 1854. After a flood destroyed the town, a group of missionaries constructed a new home for him on a hillside.

Teaching people from Pakistan to the UK in the St George Utah Visitors Center

St. Geroge Temple

Graydon's Baptism
                                                                                                                              6/13/2016

Well this week was full, fun and busy!  We had a zone conference and it was sad because it was our Mission President, President and Sister Center's last zone conference. They end their missions a week after me. It was nice to hear their heartfelt testimonies. They are the best!

Right after the zone conference we had to go to the Visitors Center for the rest of the day so we had no time to work  in our  assigned area. But, that night, we were teaching people online at the VC.... And it’s a long story..But basically I have a great referral for a lady in Pakistan. She is super interested in learning about our church, she reads the Book of Mormon already and she wants to be baptized. But it’s hard to get missionaries to her in Pakistan. So that night I spent hours trying to figure this out. Ha!  But I am getting closer!  It is not as easy as you would think!  But it’s just awesome to think that people all around the world are learning the gospel through technology!  It’s the best!

Friday we were on shift at the Brigham Young historical home. It was crazy busy!!!! So many people came through that we had to shorten our tours so that we could get more people through. But ,we gave away four Book of Mormons during our shift, so that was all worth all of our hard work!

Saturday was a crazy but amazing day!  At the Visitors center I gave a tour to a couple from the UK!  So I gave them and tour and talked about the temple. Then I felt that I should teach about the restoration. We have a beautiful painting here in the visitor’s center of Joseph Smith's first vision. So I showed them that picture and taught the restoration. The spirit was so strong. They were honestly overwhelmed with all the information I had given them. Ha but they took a lot of printed information with them and they are excited to learn more about it!

Saturday afternoon, I was privileged to go to my old area to a baptism!!!! Nikki (our recent convert) her husband Graydon was baptized!!!  I was so grateful to be there, And the whole time Nikki kept talking about how a year from now they can be sealed as a family for time and all eternity! In the Temple It was so special!  It’s my favorite thing to see families come together!!

Sunday, we taught G. again..He said had an amazing answer to his prayers, and he is getting baptized in a couple of weeks. It amazing because now him and his wife can go to the temple and be sealed as well!!  The temple is the best!! My favorite thing about the visitor’s center is getting to see the St George temple every day. It is such a special place.  That is our goal as missionaries... to lead people to the temple!!!
I love my job so much!!!!
Love yall

HOT WEATHER AND AMAZING MIRACLES

                                                                   JUNE 6TH 2016
Time is going by way too fast!  Everyone keeps asking me how I feel about going home s0 soon...and honestly it just doesn't feel real!  There is too much work to do!

Since my time left is getting shorter and shorter, I had been feeling a bit down on myself, I was feeling like maybe I haven't accomplished enough on my mission... even though I know that isn’t true. I have been praying to feel at peace and to know if I have done what Heavenly Father wanted me to do. And then one morning this week, our recent convert Nikki walks into the Visitors Center!! I hadn't seen her in about 4 months, and, she is doing well and staying strong in the gospel!  But, then she tells me that her husband is getting baptized this week!!! That was the biggest and best news!! I just started to cry. He will baptized and a year from that day, they plan to be sealed in the temple for time and all eternity. That was such an answer to my prayers. I know that I have done what the Lord needed me to do and Nikki coming to the VC and telling me this news gave me the peace I needed. Oh and Nikki's parents that we taught a few times are getting baptized this month as well!!! MIRACLES!

We are teaching so many interesting people in our area. We had a lesson with the Russian lady again...and let’s just say her heart isn't quite open to the gospel yet. But we did get to hear a lot about what she believed...so that was interesting!  And we had a great lesson with the family that we are teaching. Except only two of them were there..But it turned out really well because we taught the word of wisdom. It was actually a super powerful lesson - especially because the mom couldn't understand why we couldn't drink coffee or tea. So, we really focused on faith and bore testimonies of the blessing of living the word of wisdom. The spirit was so strong and she felt it too!

We also had an amazing lesson with G...He has been investigating the church for a LONG time. We call those people "eternigators". His wife is a member and we had a great lesson with them!! The spirit was so strong and he committed to baptism! On June 25th. It was literally a miracle that he accepted that date. And he said the most powerful prayer at the end of our lesson...he is so ready!!

We also had a neat experience online with a chat in the teaching center. This girl came on chat...she lives and Germany but she is American. She had been praying to know what God wanted her to do. So the other day she was on the bus and two missionaries started talking to her. She was amazed that these boys would give up two years of their life for their religion. So she came onto the mormon.org chat because something they said just stuck with her.  She is so prepared to hear the gospel. We are teaching her online and she is awesome!!  It’s neat to see that small thing that those missionaries did in Germany was an answer to this girl's prayer. I know that God will send people in our path to answer our prayers. I have seen that time and time again on my mission. Heavenly Father know us each individually. The gospel is so true and I love my job!!

LIFE IN THE VISITORS CENTER,  BRIGHAM YOUNG WINTER HOME and TABERNACLE

Last performance in Tabernacle before closing for renovation.
St Geroge Temple Visitors Center

Well, this week flew by... I can't even remember half of the things that happened!!  But things have been going really good. Every day Sister Walter and I  I see so many little miracles in the Visitors Center. The other day a family of six came in to the VC from California. They saw this beautiful white building (the temple) from the freeway and they wanted to know more!  I gave them a tour and they had so many great questions!  They each ended up leaving with a Book of Mormon, a family proclamation, and some other materials. It was amazing!!,  and so fun to teach/talk with them. I know that they were led to the Visitors Center for a reason.  Stuff like that happens all the time! And Every day, we teach people online.  We accept calls from people who have questions about the church. I answered a call from a lady who found the Mormon.org number at a truck stop. She felt like she needed to call it so she did. I had the opportunity to teach her about the restoration. She wanted a copy of the Book of Mormon, the Bible and a DVD!  And she even accepted the invitation for missionaries to come to her home and teach her!  It was truly a miracle!

As part of serving in the Visitors Center, we go out once a week and give tours at the historic sites in St. George. So, this week we were at Brigham Young's Winter Home and gave tours. It’s really a great opportunity because a lot of nonmembers come through because they are traveling and they want to see the historic sites. So we get to give them a tour of Brigham's home and teach them the gospel as well. We had a couple come in with lots of questions. The spirit was so strong. And they even accepted a Book of Mormon and were excited to read it!

This week in our area, in Bloomington Hills, we are teaching a family of 7 that are all nonmembers. They are amazing!  Of course, some of them are progressing more than others.  It’s awesome to see the spirit touch their hearts. They are so close to accepting the invitation to be baptized!! It’s just really hard for some people to commit. But I know they will one day soon!

We have also started teaching this lady from Russia. She has lots of really interesting questions. It’s a really different experience to teach her but she is feeling the spirit for sure!

Sunday evening we had a unique opportunity as missionaries to sing in the tabernacle. They are closing the tabernacle for a few years for renovation, so this was the farewell concert. The spirit was so strong in that room. You could feel the pioneers sacrifice and all they did to build that beautiful building. Every modern day prophet (except Joseph Smith) has spoken from that pulpit in the tabernacle. I have fallen in love with the pioneer history here in St. George. It’s amazing to think of all of their sacrifices because they KNEW this gospel was true! I know it is true as well!!

"Come what may and love it."
Love yall!

LEAVING BEAVER,                                      May, 23rd
HEADED TO THE VISITORS CENTER

https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gif

Well, I left Beaver on Tuesday...It was bitter sweet. I was able to say my goodbyes, it was super sad to say goodbye to the Knights...I just love them so much!!   Beaver is an amazing area so I will really miss it. But… after a short hour and a half drive, I made it down to St. George. And I already don’t like the heat!  Ha-ha. My New Companion is Sister Walter from Germany, she is awesome, I love working with her.

So, at the Temple Visitor's center, we spend half of the day there and half of the day in our area. It switches morning and afternoon. And the visitor’s center it is very different from what I am used to. I am used to going out and finding people to teach, but here at the VC, the people come to us!  Lots of miracles happen. People from all over the world come in because they are on vacation visiting the national parks. I had this couple from Texas come in the other day. They had so many questions especially about what the temple is. They really were intrigued by the fact that families can be sealed for time and all eternity. We also have the opportunity to teach people online through Mormon.org. We accept chats or phone calls from people with questions.   If they want to learn more we help get them in contact with their local missionaries or continue to teach them online!  Lots of cool miracles happen doing that...I love it...it’s the best!

Since we only get half the time in our area, it’s kind of struggling. We are trying to find more people to teach. We have some, but we sure have a lot of work to do!  We did find an amazing family this week!  The parents are less active members and they have three teenage daughters who are not baptized. We had a good long conversation with the mom. She is just so confused with religion right now. She said she honestly feels like Joseph Smith when he was searching for the truth. But she really wants us to come and teach her family. They are prepared and ready to make changes in their life. This gospel is so amazing. I love having the opportunity to testify to people every day of the joy that the gospel brings."...and they were filled with that joy which is unspeakable and full of glory." (Helaman 5:44)

I love my job!!

CINCO DE MAYO!               May 9th, 2016

This was a crazy, fun, busy week!  We saw a lot of people. Our new investigator
Joy is doing well... She has tons of questions so it's sometimes hard
to teach her things! She talks a lot...  which is awesome.  She is so prepared.
Charles and Mandee are doing okay..it was a stressful week for them so
we didn't get to see them as much as we would have liked to.

Thursday was a crazy day!!  We had zone meeting in Cedar City all day.
We played tug of war at the meeting with all the missionaries so that was
fun!  It was to help us learn to be more unified and "equally yoked".
Then we had to get back to Beaver and help set up for the Cinco de
Mayo party!  Since there is a huge Hispanic population here in Beaver,
the Spanish elders, us and some members set up a party at the church
building and it was a huge success!  A lot of of our investigators came and
it was super fun. Tons of good food too!  I was in charge of the piƱata so
that was crazy… Ha but way fun.

We also had a powerful lesson with the Alabama family on the atonement and
how the savior can help us forgive. Both of them have had
some hard things that have happened to them in the past that they have
a hard time forgiving. He said he literally felt a weight in his
shoulders. That brought to mind this scripture:

"13 And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in
their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of good comfort,
for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will
covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage. 14 And I will
also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you
cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and
this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and
that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people
in their afflictions." (Mosiah 24:13-14)

That Saviors atonement is so amazing and can literally lift the burden
from our shoulders. Everyone in the room was crying...I just love them
so much!  The gospel of Jesus Christ is changing lives!!

Love y'all!

I LOVE TO SEE THE TEMPLE…  May 12th 2016

It’s been a good week!  We met Joy this week... She is so prepared and
has so many great questions!  She works at the car repair shop, It's a cool
story with how we found her. The other day a lady walked into Joy's
repair shop with church clothes on.  Joy asked her why she was all
dressed up. This lady told Joy that she had just come from the temple.
Joy had a lot of questions about the temple and remembered her mom
talking about the temple before she passed away. She remembers her mom
saying she wanted her temple work done! So we talked to Joy a lot
about the temple and how she can get her mothers work done. And now we
are teaching Joy and she has lots of good questions about the gospel!

We taught the family from Alabama a few more lessons this week... They are one
special family!  We taught them the plan of salvation and it was great
because they already have great faith in Christ. Then somehow in the
lesson we got on the subject of temples. They saw the picture of the
St. George temple and fell in love with it. Then the husband Jody
found out that he cannot go into the temple without a recommend. That
made him upset for a while. But we  were able to turn it
around by reminding him how he feels when he reads the Book of Mormon.
He feels so much peace when he reads it so that really helped the
situation!  He is really sensitive to the spirit. They are amazing people and
I love them so much!!

Then we started teaching this part member couple... Charles and
Mandee. She is a member but he is not. We had an amazing lesson with
them on Thursday!!! Charles is so prepared!!  He wants to get baptized,
they have a few things to do first...but they are
both so willing to work at it. And he said the most amazing prayer! He
even blessed my family back home... How neat is that?!  He and his
wife have such a strong desire to change!!

On Friday and Saturday we were asked to do a lot of service. Friday we helped
at the cemetery. We helped roll out grass on to the dirt patches.
Unfortunately it rained the day before so the turf was wet and really
heavy  and we got covered in mud!!  But, it was fun...we also got to help
some people move in to their home and we cleaned the church on Saturday.

Friday I was on exchanges in Enoch (which I right next to Cedar City)
and so we got to drive by and see the progress of the cedar city
temple!!  Everyone is so excited for it to be here and it's going to be
beautiful! The temple is the best place to be :)

Love y'all and I love my job!
