TENDER MERCIES                   2/29/26

Good things are happening in Beaver!  We received a miracle referral to
teach this girl who is 16 yrs old. So we had her and her member friend  help
us do a fun prank/surprise on the elders. It was super fun and the perfect way to get to
know her better and so that she can feel more comfortable when we teach her!!
I'm excited for that.
Tuesday we got to help at the bishop’s
storehouse. We got to help buy the food and sort it out for the people
that needed it. It was a super fun experience, especially to see how
appreciative the people were. Then that night we had a miracle happen.
One of our Ward mission leaders called us and told us he had an
appointment for us. He told us where to be and what time. So we showed
up and It turned out to be a less active woman and her non member
husband. They have the cutest 3 kids! We taught them the message of
the restoration. It was super powerful!! I'm excited to continue
teaching them.

We also have this other investigator couple we are teaching. .
They hadn't been progressing very well. But this week we
had a really powerful lesson with them about the plan of salvation. We
talked a lot about the atonement and our life on earth. It was really
cool because they never knew the amazing things that are possible
because of the atonement of Jesus Christ. They were amazed and the
spirit was so strong.

It was a bit unusual this week because for some reason a lot of our appointments
cancelled. But on the other hand we found 3 new investigators who I
pray will take hold of the gospel.

This week I feel we have had had a strong
emphasis teaching  on the atonement. It the most amazing message we have to
share. There are so many powerful scriptures about the atonement! And
currently my favorite one is Mosiah 24:13-14

13 And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in
their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of good comfort,
for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will
covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage.

14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders,
that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in
bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me
hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do
visit my people in their afflictions.

What an amazing message of hope that is!!! I love you all and I love my job!!

WELCOME TO BEAVER UTAH!

Well,  I have arrived in Beaver!  It was really sad to leave my last area
and say goodbye to people. It broke my heart! But my last p-day there
I got to spend it with Nikki and her family hiking around Dixie rock.
Ah I'm going to miss them!  And I also was able to to say goodbye to Kelly…he
is amazing and I'm super sad to be missing his baptism next week. But
I'm super excited for him!!! I also got to say goodbye to some other
great people that we taught and some great members that I truly came
to love!
Tuesday morning I hopped on the transfer van and drove up
to Beaver! Beaver is a cute little town kind of in the middle of
nowhere...we are an hour from the closest Walmart!! But, it's the
best...I love it already!  We live in this little house and we have it
all to ourselves ...so that's new!  There are lots of less active people
here in Beaver so that's where most of our work is.  We are
working with some awesome people!.   We met this one family while
walking...turns out that they are a part member family of 8. So we
talked to them and invited them to church and they actually came!!! It was
crazy!! We are also teaching this other part member family, the boys
just got baptized but the father didn't.  And we had a powerful lesson
with them last night and the dad is slowly but surely wanting to learn more!

For preparation-day today we went to this abandoned mining town called Frisco.
It was way fun .. We went with our district and we got to explore all the
old abandoned buildings!

One oh the highlights of the week was getting to talk to Derick!!
So Derick is the guy that was baptized last April while I was serving
in Richfield.  Ah, he is the best!   I got to talk to him briefly his
week and he is doing super good!  He teaches the gospel principles
class in his ward every week and he is preparing to go to the temple
in April!!   I'm so excited. It's such an amazing feeling to see those
that you worked with grow in the gospel. It was a huge tender mercy to
hear how he is doing. Talking to him made me think of the scripture
Alma 5:26 "And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have
experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of
redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?" What a powerful
scripture that is! I look back at the people on my mission that have
had that mighty change in their hearts and I wonder if they can "feel
so now"? That's why it's so important to keep going and "…press forward
with a steadfastness in Christ".
The gospel is so true and it changes

lives. I have the best job in the world!!!

BEING TRANSFERRED!! To Beaver Utah    2/15/16
I'm totally converted to the small town life!!!
Hiking with Nikki and her kids (along with Sister Gearheart)

                         My Friends from Germany

Well we got our transfer call and I'm going to the tiny town of
BEAVER!!!  My new companion will be Sister Slinker from Kentucky!

I’ts her last transfer and then she will be going home..Crazy!  This will
probably be my last area but I'm excited for what the future holds!
My companion and I are both being transferred and they are putting
Elders in this stake. It's sad because our investigators don't fully
understand why we are leaving. And it's sad because I have really come
to love the people here and the area has been doing really well! But I
guess the Lord needs Elders here now!   The saddest part is that we
are missing a couple of baptisms that are coming up!!  So sad!

But this week was really good!! We had the opportunity to teach and
find. This one man who we have been teaching for a while..we finally
put him on date for baptism! We randomly showed up at his home the
other night and they let us in. He said he felt that we would be
stopping by tonight. It was cool because we got to express Heavenly
Fathers Love for him and he committed to be baptized!! Ahh the spirit
was super strong.
All of our investigators are doing really well. Kelly is getting
baptized next week!! I so sad I won't be there for that. When we told
him we were leaving he started crying!! So sad...and Gold Rush guy
(Steve) is doing good as well. He knows the gospel is true and he will
be baptized in March! We found two families to teach..it's always
interesting teaching little kids but it forces us to teach simply. The
German couple is doing well...in fact they are going up to the Provo
City center open house!! So I hope that they have a good experience
there. Them Last night we had an interesting lesson with another
investigator couple that we are teaching....Donna and Steve. We read 3
Nephi Ch. 11 with them about when Christ visits he Nephites. And the
wife got super offended because in that chapter Christ speaks boldly
about baptism. She feels she doesn't need to be dipped in water to
show her commitment to Christ. But we simply just testified of Christ
and his gospel. It brought tears to my eyes as I did so. Her heart was
softened a little and she started crying as well and saying how strong
the spirit was. It's amazing was testifying of the savior can do. They
haven't committed to baptism yet...but I know they will one day!

This week we also had a neat opportunity to hear from Craig
Christensen from the presidency of the Seventy.  On Thursday we had a
special MLC with him and the mission president. It was only a handful
of Elders and Sisters and it was a very powerful meeting discussing
what we can do to further the work in the mission. He is a really neat
guy and I learned a lot. And the next day we had zone conference where
he talked as well. During lunch I had a good talk with his wife and
wow! She is a very powerful women! She told me and a couple of sisters
how Thomas S Monson's health was doing. And she is going to tell
President Monson that some sisters in St George love him and are
praying for him! Cool huh?! It was really neat to talk to her. It's
been a very spiritually uplifting week. The gospel is so true and
people need to know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who sent his
son Jesus Christ to be our savior. What a wonderful message we have!!

BAPTISMS AND MIRACLES     2/8/16
Mission Leader Conference

This was a week to remember!  We saw miracles!!!

The week started off with an all day long MLC (mission leadership council) meeting at President Centers home. It was a great meeting, I learned a lot and it got me pumped to go out and do missionary work!  We didn't have much time in our area that day. Then all day on Wednesday we were both in St George on exchanges. One of the Sisters was really sick so my companion stayed with her all day and I went out in the Green Valley area with a Sister from Texas! It was hard because we lost a lot of time working  in our area that day but it was worth it to help some sisters out.

OH!  And our pipes were frozen for FOUR DAYS. That was fun! with no water! Needless to say, it has been very cold....

Thursday and Friday morning we also had meetings. But we did have some time to work in our area finally!   We have been really working to finding new people to teach.

We were looking though our lists of people and felt we should go visit a certain family. We went.  The mother is a member of the church and she has 3 teenage step children who all want to be baptized!!  Ahhhh it was a miracle to find them!  I’m super excited to start teaching this family..

We also had another cool miracle. One of our bishops called us. He is a former mission president so he is a beast at missionary work.  He called us and gave us a family to go visit. SO we did and it was a family of 5 who recently moved here and they know nothing about the church!  The wife was is super interested because she kept saying "I just want to know the truth for myself through the spirit!!!  AH! And she talked about how she has been searching for the truth because she knows that there must be more truth than just the Bible.  We have our first appointment with them tonight and I’m super pumped. They are a miracle and an answer to prayers!

We also had two baptisms on Saturday!!!  A little boy we were teaching got baptized. His name is Aiden. He is super cute and he has a hard time remembering things but he has a super strong testimony!  Another of our investigators got baptized. Her name is Ashley. She has a cool story because she moved here from Vegas and she moved in with a member family. She started coming to church and felt the spirit and knew that it was true. And at the baptism, right when she came out of the water, the tears just started to flow and she stood there overcome with joy. It was really cool!

I have learned so much about faith this week...This work will not go forward if we don’t have the faith!  Faith is like walking to the edge of the light and then taking one step into the dark. Miracles are wrought by faith.
The gospel is true and I love my job!

A LESSON IN GERMAN, and A LESSON IN SERVICE!

It has been a great week! I went on exchanges with Sister Walter and that was fun! She is from Germany and she actually served some of her mission in Frankfurt because she was visa waiting. But the cool part of the exchange was that we taught our German couple while she was here!  We have been teaching them for a while and their English is getting a lot better. But it was nice for them to have Sister Walter there. Pretty much the entire lesson was in German...because the fellow shippers spoke German as well. So I was just sitting there...and every once in awhile they would stop talking and look at me and expect me to say something. Ha it was super awkward/funny because I had no idea where the conversation was at. But the neat thing about it was that the spirit was there and the Gebert’s know that it is true!!!

We are also teaching this man named Steve (gold rush guy) the other day he even showed us some of the gold nuggets he brought back from Alaska.  He is so prepared for the gospel. We had a powerful lesson with him about prayer and it was cool to testify to him the power of prayer. Our other investigator  is doing AMAZING! He will be baptized at the end of February!  He has really struggled with smoking and we had a powerful lesson on the Word of Wisdom with him the other day. He was really nervous to quit smoking but he really wants it. And he said he wanted to finish off what he had left first before he quit. But we talked about him showing his faith. And we talked to him a few days later and he had cut wayyyy back. He only had one cigarette in 3 days!!! I know the Lord is helping him and giving him strength to accomplish hard things.

Friday was an interesting day. I was on exchanges with Sister Gearheart again. She came up to my area with me. And that random lady that had called us last week...well she kept calling us all week and wanted some help. So we went over Friday morning and helped her. She needed help cleaning. And let me just say that her place was in rough condition. She was moving the next day so she needed things cleaned and packed. There was moldy food and dishes everywhere, bread so moldy that it looked like a black clump, and pet stains galore! And i can't even put into words what  things were under her couch. So that was an interesting experience. "For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake" (mat 9:16) But all that suffering was worth it to help someone. We forget ourselves and try to further the Lords work...no matter how hard it may be! Ha-ha!

Well our recent convert Nikki is doing amazing! She has found tons of family names to take to the temple. She is obsessed with family history now! She also had the opportunity to share her testimony and tell her conversion story at a fireside! The spirit was so strong. She has an amazing testimony that makes me cry everytime!
The gospel is true and I love my job!

Love yall!

It’s been ONE YEAR!!              1/25/16

Well....I’ve hit my year mark...which is crazy!!! Time goes to fast and I don’t want to go back to the real world! ha-ha.  It’s been a busy week!  I was only in my area half the time because of exchanges. I was able to go on exchanges in St. George and in Ivins.  We saw a lot of miracles in both cities!!!   It was funny because in Ivins, they cover a Spanish branch..so we had a few lessons in Spanish … that was interesting!   There is this one couple from Chile and I couldn't understand a word but I know that the spirit was there and I could feel Heavenly Father's love for them!!  It was a really cool experience!

We had a powerful lesson with one of our investigators on Thursday. So, Thursday night was jam-packed with lessons. We barely had time to do anything because we were running from lesson to lesson. And that night we had a lesson with Kelly. Unfortunately, we only had 15 minutes to meet with him. He is coming along really well and you can just see how the gospel is changing his whole countenance. But in the short time we had with him, it was the most powerful lesson!!   We invited him to be baptized again and he accepted a baptismal date in February!!!  ahh! The spirit was strong, and even big ole tough, gruff Kelly had tears in his eyes!! Only the gospel can do that!  ha-ha.  He is doing awesome!.

I love this area..There are so many amazing people here and the members are the best!! They just “get” missionary work. Yesterday, this random lady called us. She is not a member but she found our number on a card that missionaries had given her long ago. She called and talked to us for half an hour. It was really cool because she talked about how impressed she was by the LDS people and how kind they are! It’s amazing how the people can feel and see the difference in the people’s lives that are living the gospel.

There is such a special spirit that is here. And nothing compares to driving into St George and seeing the temple standing as a beacon in the middle of town! St George is a special place and I have really grown to love it. I found a quote that says: "What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say." And how true that is that we can be an example by the things that we do each and every day. We can live the amazing gospel that we love!
